Xcaret park ended up to be one of the highlights of the week. We did a full-day trip to Xcaret, and probably did only 75% of the things available there.
Xcaret and Xel-há are the two main park attractions in Riviera Maya and Cancun Area. Xcaret itself is an eco-archaeological park, featuring in 12 acres total area, and considered a majestic park by the sea where you can relive the history of Mexico through colorful traditions and shows, endless activities and beautiful native flora and fauna.
It’s crazy the things you can do there, I think I could spend two or three days just doing their activities. The cost is not cheap, $129 USD per person, for the Xcaret Plus but let me tell you what they offer inside…
Archeological sites, like St. Francis of Assisi Chapel, Chapel of Guadalupe, Mexican Cemetery, Mayan Village of Xcaret and Paradise River where you can get a boat and go through the river.
They offer also a dolphin ride for $109USD each, which we also did for the first time. It was great, although time limited and you spend some time in the pool swimming with the dolphins. Didn’t like the fact that all photos and videos were sold in a DVD, costing something around $3o to $45USD. But hey, this is a business isn’t it?
We did also a snorkel tour extra, outside on the costal shore, for $35USD each. It was absolutely amazing, specially because we did it privately, with no one else assisting. They have also the swim with sharks activity at $59USD each, but we gladly skipped this one.
For animal lovers, they have the beautiful Jaguar Island with real Jaguars inside, free range, the marine turtles and the coral reef activities. Also the butterfly pavillion and the aviary. For water lovers you have the underground rivers and cenotes, where you can swim freely.
They also have at the end of the day a Mexico Dinner + Show for $49USD each, which we ended up going as well.
It was a looooooong day, but will last in our memories.
So, by the end of the day, excluding meals and drinks, you will be able to spend over $400USD each ($800 for two adults). Buying online in advance will save you some money, but not much, maybe 10%.
Its expensive, but worth the experience. Its great!
